March Brief news of morning darshan –
The atmosphere in Kulwant Hall is charged with festivities. Prasanthi
Mandir is decorated with beautiful flowers, rangoli, traditional Kalsham
and other decorations. Devotees from far & near are here to be at the
Lotus Feet for this auspicious and joyous occasion of
Ugadi and to witness
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s
Griha pravesh to His
new residence.
Bhagawan, to the surprise and enormous
delight of all devotees, entered Sai Kulwant Hall, dressed in a bright
yellow robe. It was a beautiful sight for all to watch as devotees feasted
on the radiant form of the Lord. Swami’s car entered Sai Kulwant hall at 8
a.m. Swami’s car took a complete round and stopped near interview room.
Swami took a slow walk up to the dais, for those sitting in the back lines
of the
hall; it was a boon since they too could catch a glimpse of Swami’s form.
Holding the brass railing Swami conversed with the students sitting near
by, Swami stood up for nearly 10 minutes. At around 8:15 Arathi was given
to Swami. After the Aarthi all the waiting bands i.e. primary school band,
Anantapur band, and the local village band a group of 8 residents along
with vedam boys marched towards Swami’s new residence. Swami’s car drove behind, while going back Swami
drove in a different car an open Lamborghini vehicle –
The open car gives the most favourable sight
of Swami indeed.
The formal Griha pravesh was At appx.8.30, lots of VIP’s and relatives of
Swami were present at the ceremony. Bhagawan first Blessed the Puja
being conducted in the entrance hall. VIP guests were seated,
waiting for the ceremonial feast being banqueted by Bhagavan, in the
identical building conterminous to Bhagawan's New residence. Swami went
there, Blessed all of them and also partook some food. Also, on the
opposite side i.e. in poornachandra hall everything was arranged for the
big treat . Anantapur
girls went inside poornachandra hall at 9.15 followed by other students,
faculty members etc. to be present at the lunch given by Swami. Later at
the lunch hours numerous varieties of food was served to all.
Anticipate, there will be cultural programs in the evening and perhaps,
Swami may bless us with His divine discourse on this Holy (Telugu) New
Year. Happy Ugadi to
all our visitors

A brief note on Ugadi Festival:Festivals are celebrated every
year in the remembrance of past events. All the major Hindu festivals have
their own purpose and significance, i.e., to show their relevance and
importance in the context of the eternal world cycle of history. India's
rich heritage with its numerous festivals celebrated throughout the year,
provides succour and faith, as each occasion has its own distinct value,
beauty and ritual practice. Amongst the numerous festivals of India, Ugadi
is celebrated with festive fervour in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra
Pradesh. While it is called Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, in
Maharashtra it is known as Gudipadava".
Hindus have always given pride of place to festivals, as it is a time for
getting together as families. The occasion can be based on a seasonal
change, a social or religious theme. The New year festival or Ugadi comes
close on the heels of Holi. Ugadi name has been changed from Yuga Aadi
(Yuga + Aadi means "Beginning of New age"). It is believed that the
creator of the Hindu pantheon Lord Brahma started creation on this day -
Chaitra suddha padhyami or the Ugadi day. Also the great Indian
Mathematician Bhaskaracharya's calculations proclaimed the Ugadi day from
the sunrise on as the beginning of the new year, new month and new day.
The onset of spring also marks a beginning of new life with plants (barren
until now) acquiring new life, shoots and leaves. Spring is considered the
first season of the year hence also heralding a new year and a new
beginning. The vibrancy of life and verdant fields and meadows full of
colorful blossoms signifies growth, prosperity and well-being.
Ugadi marks the beginning of a new Hindu lunar calendar with a change in
the moon's
orbit. It is a day when mantras are chanted and predictions made for the
New Year. Traditionally, the Panchanga Sravanam or listening to the yearly
calendar was done at the temples. On Ugadi day, people wake up before the
break of dawn and take a head bath after which they decorate the entrance
of their houses with fresh mango leaves.
On this day, it is the practice to eat what is called "Ugadi Pacchadi
(Ugadi Chutney). This Chutney is made from neem flowers, mango juice,
honey, sugar and other ingredients with different tastes. The inner
significance of this preparation is to indicate that life is a mixture of
good and bad, joy and sorrow and all of them have to be treated alike. All
experiences have to be treated with equanimity. Everyone should make a
resolve that he will face calmly whatever happens in this year, accepting
it with good grace. Welcome everything. Consider everything as for one’s
own good. Men should rise above sorrow and happiness, success and failure.
This is the primary message of the Ugadi festival.
