Marking the end of the fortnight long Guru Purnima celebrations, a group of musicians from the UK offered an Instrumental Medley this evening here in Prasanthi Nilayam.

The programme organised under the auspices of Sri Sathya Sai Organisations – UK had Roopa Panesar playing on Sitar along with Kirpal Singh Panesar on Taar Shehanai accompanied by Talvin Singh on Tabla and Prasanna Tevah Rajah on Mridangam. Playing for a full one-hour, the quartret produced some scintillating music, first playing in tandem and later engaged in Jugalbandhi enthralling the august assembly weaving musical magic.

The evening numbers were a mix of popular devotional numbers coupled with Prasanthi Mandir Bhajans.

All the four artistes are professionals accomplisehd in their own area, trained by reputed masters and later performed at various prestigious music shows and festivals. Roopa Panesar  had already performed in the Divine presence, thrice earlier, in 2003 along with Late Jagjith Singh followed by in 2009 with a solo performance and last year, in 2012. Roopa consideres these golden opportunities as the zenith of her personal and professional life.

At the end of the presentation all the artistes were felicitated. Even as bhajans continued prasadam was distributed to the entire assemblage of devotees. Bhajans ended with ‘Thusrsday Special’ in Bhagawan’s mellifluous voice, “Om Shivaya…Om Shivaya…“  Mangala Arathi was offered at 1835 hrs. marking the end of the session.
